Toby West Home, formerly known as Toby West Antiques, opened its doors in Cashiers, North Carolina in 2012 as an extension of the renowned design work of Atlanta-based designers, Toby West and Tom Hayes. 

Toby and Tom, both acclaimed interior designers and antiquarians, founded Toby West Limited, a successful design, antiques and furnishing business, located in the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center for 24 years. Tom Hayes maintained a strong design presence at ADAC for over 40 years. Toby opened a shop in Highlands, North Carolina where he became known for his antiques and accessories in the Adirondack style. Following the success of the Highlands location, Tom and Toby opened the Cashiers location and regularly filled the shop with English and European antiques acquired on their many buying trips to find the most unique antique pieces. Their decades of experience combined with their elevated design aesthetic made the duo an internationally acclaimed design team. In 2018, Atlanta Homes Magazine described the partner's designs as “synonymous with gracious Southern hospitality, with a little swagger.”

After the untimely passing of Toby West in 2019, Ellen Roberson joined the leadership team after having worked alongside Toby and Tom for many years. Tom and Ellen committed to continue Toby's legacy of offering the best in antiques, art, and accessories in their beloved North Carolina mountains. 

Ellen brings a background in sales and corporate travel having owned Pace Travel in Atlanta for 28 years. After a successful career in business, Ellen's impeccable sense of style and design led her to Toby West and has sustained her throughout the transition into partnership of the store. On most days, you can find Ellen on the showroom floor doing what she loves, helping people create beautiful, inspiring spaces in which to live, love, and laugh.
